Why am I being charged for an "Air Freight from Japan" fee? Aren't you supposed to have these overhaul parts in stock? I see that you have an optional Long Stroke Piston Rod available. Can I use this to get a higher ride height? I have lost all the paint on my damper. Does TEIN offer a repainting service? What will an Overhaul cost me? The cost of overhaul will vary for every customer, depending on the mileage put on the dampers, the type of driving, maintenance of the dampers, and etc. Depending on whatever else needs to be changed the cost of your overhaul will go up from there.
Depending on whether we have all of the parts needed to finish your overhaul in stock or if the parts need to be ordered the ETA changes. If all the parts are in stock: Weeks from the date of the overhaul approval. If parts need to be ordered: 3. Needed external replacement parts will be determined at the time of inspection. So Bilstiens are the way to go? From what I've seen, and heard, FatCat use's a threaded sleeve, simular to the GC set-up, and the shock body lenght isn't adjustable, Meaning no adjustment of spring preload, and fixed ride height, depending on spring rates and shock body lenght, as predeturmined to goal's, at ordering.
I understand, his dampning rates are spot on, and unless the single or double adjustable dampning is ordered, you pretty much dance with what you bought, with little or no adjustment possible. Not that, that's bad, but if you're not happy with the set-up, you have little choice in changing it.
I've got the Tein RA Damper kit. I've had it on for awhile. Quality product should last for many miiles. Not sure if this was just me. I have had my Tein Flex on for about 5 years now but only about 40k miles.
I noticed the ride getting really harsh. I did a search on Tein Flex and found a thread on this forum with directions by Jason Cuadra about adjusting the preload to get proper travel and not be on the bumpstops He also points out that the Tein factory instructions don't work out well.
I did Jason's measurements and found that I was indeed on the bumpstops most of the time. It is very durable and reliable and has thorough rustproofing from the famous green TEIN powder paint.
The springs are made of high-tensile steel and then cold-formed that will be resistant to sagging. They come pre-loaded to make it easy for you to install, but they are not individually wrapped in the box which is a cause for concern during the shipping process.
Considering the ease of installation and the quality of these coilovers , they are off to a great start. But how do they perform? They aren't too harsh and are a great intro to coilovers if you are new to the coilover game. These are perfect for the daily driver and are not necessarily for you if you are looking to race your car.
The Flex Z handles really well, they aren't too stiff, and overall, they drive nice. There haven't been many complaints about them when you take the ease and price, which we will get into next, into consideration.
They also seem to really be lasting people for a long time as well. The adjustment system makes it easy for you to adjust the ride with a few clicks. Overall this is a really great coilover for someone who wants to improve their suspension at an affordable price. Like always you can insert the make, model, year, and trim on our suspension page and find the exact fit for your car.
